Yesterday NPR debuted the new video by Dawes, for “Things Happen”, the terrific first single from their upcoming album, All Your Favorite Bands (out June 2). Who plays the central troubadour in the Sgt Pepper suit? You may remember him from such projects as The Mockingbird Devotional, and this post. Nate Michaux is my hero:

One of my favorite bands, Dave. My son’s band, Delta Spirit, have toured with them and are good friends and, in fact, I was just at a show in Hollyweird where the lead singer of Dawes (Taylor Goldsmith) sat in with an up and coming country singer, Sam Outlaw. (check him out… One of my adopted spawn) I had a good chat with Taylor as we have met many times. Love his songwriting. Very thoughtful. If you’re interested check out Delta Spirit at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville VA this Sat 4/11. Two of my spawn are with the band: keyboard backup singer and sound man. Thus ends my shameless mom promo. (If you wanna get in free. I know people.)

Wow. Day made! I love Delta Spirit. “Into the Wide” is def one of my favorite purchases of the last six months. I saw they were coming to Cville and was super bummed that I’ll be traveling… Love that Middle Brother record too.
