John 17:20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
John 17:20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
WHAT: Mockingbird seeks to connect the Christian faith with the realities of everyday life in fresh and down-to-earth ways.
WHY: Are we called Mockingbird? The name was inspired by the mockingbird’s peculiar gift for mimicking the cries of other birds. In a similar way, we seek to repeat the message we have heard - God’s word of grace and forgiveness.
HOW: Via every medium available! At present this includes (but is not limited to) a daily weblog, semi-annual conferences, and an ongoing publications initiative.
WHO: At present, we employ two full-time staff, David Zahl and Ethan Richardson and one part-time, William McDavid. They are helped and supported by a large number of contributing volunteers and writers. Our board of directors is chaired by Mr. Thomas Becker.
WHERE: Our offices are located in Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, VA.
WHEN: Mockingbird was incorporated in June 2007 and is currently in its sixth year of operation.
The work of Mockingbird is made possible by the gifts of private donors and churches. Our 2013 operating budget is roughly $170,000, and with virtually no overhead, your gifts translate directly into mission and ministry. Can you help? Please feel free to email us at info@mbird.com if you have any questions or would like more information.
As a convenience, we are set up to accept online donations via Paypal. This method will allow you to give with a credit card, in any amount you wish. Simply click on the button below and follow the instructions.

When in NYC for the Mockingbird conference, my wife and I were walking along a bustilng street and we saw a lady walking in the oppostie direction pushing her shopping cart. I noticed she was wearing a t-shirt which said, "I have multiple personalities and none of them like you." It took a while for me to stop laught. The more I thought about the more theologically interesting the message became.

Please pardon the multiple typos in my prior post. I'm hurrying off to lunch. Grammatically speaking, I did the very thing I hate to do (Romans). I had a very good and demanding English teacher. Can a blog post be marked with virtual red ink? Grace, please, Grace . . .

DZ, brilliant!
Fisherman gave Romans, I the Small Catechism: "What does such baptizing with water signify? It signifies that the old Adam in us should through daily contrition and repentance be drowned and die with all sins and evil lusts, and also that a new man should daily come forth and arise, who lives in righteousness and purity before God forever."
We are divided people, and Jesus does not play by percentages.
