I’ve always been confused by this one. Not her masterpiece, and I know it’s an easy target but still: Why is “made” in quotes? Is this meant to be a sarcastic title? Is she implying that the devil has no sway over teen life? Or that he doesn’t make people do things, period? Did accusatory devotionals sell well in the 80s? The teens pictured – are they the ones who’ve blown it? Their fashion choices aside (mom jeans, hairspray, half-shirts), they look way too chipper to have had much interaction with you-know-who. But why are they in a ‘holy huddle’? Are they getting ready to go fight him? Or play touch football? And what on earth was the angle of “If God Loves Me, Why Can’t I Get My Locker Open”?
