WHAT: Mockingbird seeks to connect the Christian faith with the realities of everyday life in fresh and down-to-earth ways.
WHY: Are we called Mockingbird? The name was inspired by the mockingbird’s peculiar gift for mimicking the cries of other birds. In a similar way, we seek to repeat the message we have heard - God’s word of grace and forgiveness.
HOW: Via every medium available! At present this includes (but is not limited to) a daily weblog, semi-annual conferences, and an ongoing publications initiative.
WHO: At present, we employ two full-time staff, David Zahl and Ethan Richardson and one part-time, William McDavid. They are helped and supported by a large number of contributing volunteers and writers. Our board of directors is chaired by Mr. Thomas Becker.
WHERE: Our offices are located in Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, VA.
WHEN: Mockingbird was incorporated in June 2007 and is currently in its sixth year of operation.
The work of Mockingbird is made possible by the gifts of private donors and churches. Our 2013 operating budget is roughly $170,000, and with virtually no overhead, your gifts translate directly into mission and ministry. Can you help? Please feel free to email us at info@mbird.com if you have any questions or would like more information.
As a convenience, we are set up to accept online donations via Paypal. This method will allow you to give with a credit card, in any amount you wish. Simply click on the button below and follow the instructions.

Holy cow!
Now if they could just figure out a way to keep the 5th member of every away team from inevitably meeting his or her demise in every episode…

Actually in a lot of the episodes, the Expendables had color coded shirts. You could literally tell who was going to die by the uniform he wore.
Speaking of Spock, a high ranking official in ECUSA once stated that that, in Christian discourse, the model of truth and falsity should be replaced by one of force fields of energy between the claimants.
An MB writer of whom we are all very fond responded with a graphic image of Leonard Nimoy struggling against a wall of energy and the caption:
Spock trapped in a force field. Force fields are a key concept in Episcopal theology. Who knew?

John, I'm betting I can guess the MB writer of which you speak!

I can just imagine how much database work has to be done to get those things to have the potential to work! The cost and possibility for profit in collecting and licensing such information could prevent the scanner from being widespread in medical treatment for a couple of generations.
On the other hand, eliminate any possibility of profit for such an investment and it won't get done.
