WHAT: Mockingbird seeks to connect the Christian faith with the realities of everyday life in fresh and down-to-earth ways.
WHY: Are we called Mockingbird? The name was inspired by the mockingbird’s peculiar gift for mimicking the cries of other birds. In a similar way, we seek to repeat the message we have heard - God’s word of grace and forgiveness.
HOW: Via every medium available! At present this includes (but is not limited to) a daily weblog, semi-annual conferences, and an ongoing publications initiative.
WHO: At present, we employ two full-time staff, David Zahl and Ethan Richardson and one part-time, William McDavid. They are helped and supported by a large number of contributing volunteers and writers. Our board of directors is chaired by Mr. Thomas Becker.
WHERE: Our offices are located in Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, VA.
WHEN: Mockingbird was incorporated in June 2007 and is currently in its sixth year of operation.
The work of Mockingbird is made possible by the gifts of private donors and churches. Our 2013 operating budget is roughly $170,000, and with virtually no overhead, your gifts translate directly into mission and ministry. Can you help? Please feel free to email us at info@mbird.com if you have any questions or would like more information.
As a convenience, we are set up to accept online donations via Paypal. This method will allow you to give with a credit card, in any amount you wish. Simply click on the button below and follow the instructions.

I have been trying to "prayer journal" on this picture for a couple of days and I still don't get it. JZ or L.R.E. could you be so kind as to flesh it out.

If "brb" means "be right back" and "lol" means "laughing out loud", then I will say again, "WTW???"

It's the BRB that is funny. As in, "I'm just going to die and then rise from the dead." I don't know about the LOL. Is it a doubting "yeah right, nobody can come back to life after they've died" laugh, or is it an "Oh the foolishness of the Christian religion that Christians actually believe a man died and rose from again"? It would be more amusing to me if it just said "BRB", but I still thought it was a funny take on the cross, so I posted it.

That is really good…I like it! I wasn't sure what the BRB was, I thought he was burbing. Possibly gas from the Last supper.
With that in mind I think the LOL, is the LOL of doubt, like yeah right! Anyway great find.

P.S. I hope you all found my prayer journaling comment just as funny.

Jacob: we know you prayer journal everyday.
JAZ: That was exactly what I was thinking…"BRB" is a "comical" take on Jesus' proclamation about being raised from the dead. It's as if the "It is Finished" is being replaced by the "BRB". I'm still just laughing and laughing. Also…I think both understandings of "LOL" stand.
