Super cool post. Did you know about this show? Seen any episodes? Never seen any nuns like that. More Hollywood than Rome. Hilarious. Ironic in light of Robert Blake’s recent mishaps.

Thanks Aaron, I thought it had just enough awkwardness to make it completely worth everyone’s while. I must confess that I came across the opening sequence when I watched Bill Maher’s ‘Religulous’. According to Wikipedia, the show only aired from Sept 4, 1985 to Dec 25th of the same year. Another notable fact is that Sammy Davis Jr. sang the theme song. What more can you ask for?

I also neglected to mention that this post is meant to be a tribute to all clergy who find themselves working in gritty environments.

I think this should be the theme hymn for the mockingbird conference.

I agree Jake…this is why I always sing the tune to myself before going to the pulpit. ‘Hell town is takin’ care of business…’

About

WHAT: Mockingbird seeks to connect the Christian faith with the realities of everyday life in fresh and down-to-earth ways.

WHY: Are we called Mockingbird? The name was inspired by the mockingbird’s peculiar gift for mimicking the cries of other birds. In a similar way, we seek to repeat the message we have heard - God’s word of grace and forgiveness.

HOW: Via every medium available! At present this includes (but is not limited to) a daily weblog, semi-annual conferences, and an ongoing publications initiative.

WHO: At present, we employ two full-time staff, David Zahl and Ethan Richardson and one part-time, William McDavid. They are helped and supported by a large number of contributing volunteers and writers. Our board of directors is chaired by Mr. Thomas Becker.

WHERE: Our offices are located in Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, VA.

WHEN: Mockingbird was incorporated in June 2007 and is currently in its sixth year of operation.
